Bassinet :: We borrowed the bassinet and moses basket that Zach slept in as a baby. We kept Evelyn in our room for the first 3 months, and barely used the crib until she could roll over. (If you are looking, this one is similar.)
Sheets :: Three crib sheets are necessary.
Swaddle Blankets :: Hands down, aden + anais (we found some really sweet designs at Serena & Lily) and stretchy Carter’s swaddle blankets worked best for my squirmy babe. Since she wanted her hands by her face we didn’t use the Miracle Blanket, but have it stored for future Kubly babes.
Sleep Sack :: Once Evelyn outgrew a swaddle, we switched to these mini sleeping bags. It wasn’t on our registry, but it would be a great thing to add in. (We used this sleep sack in the warmer months.)
Sound Machine :: After a few months of tiptoeing around an old squeaky house, we added this sleep conditioner to Evie’s room to mask the noise. We only use it for naps – babies can actually tell the difference between night sleep and nap sleep. She jumped from 30 minute to 90 minutes naps!
Shi Shu blanket :: This was my gift to our baby, and we ended up using it in every picture at the hospital. It was nice to have a soft, beautiful blanket to wrap Evelyn in. It is my favorite gift to give new mamas. (Check coupons for this site, or I’ve seen the blankets for half-price on GILT).
Pacifiers :: Following the advice of lots of books, I was convinced Evie shouldn’t have a pacifier for the first two weeks. That idea lasted about 24 hours, until she convinced me otherwise 🙂 The hospital gave us a couple, but I would recommend having some on hand just in case.
Video Baby Monitor :: Since our room isn’t close to the nursery, the monitor was an area in our registry where we decided to invest. My friend, Katie, bought the 2.8″ screen, and that has worked well too. We started using it around 3 months when we moved Evelyn to her room.
