Stroller :: A lightweight stroller without a lot of bells and whistles fits our style of living. We don’t want to purchase multiple strollers, and a big price tag just isn’t possible for us. The only limitation with this stroller – it isn’t suitable for the first three months, when a newborn needs more support.
Ergo Baby Carrier :: I prefer to carry Evelyn. As an infant, the Ergo took the place of a stroller, and she snuggled up and slept the entire time. I still use it frequently, even just around the house, and consider it one of our very best gifts.
Solly Baby Wrap :: This wrap would fit a baby especially well during the first six months. They can’t help being lulled to sleep in it. The fabric and branding is beautiful.
Car Seat :: Highly recommend this brand. My cousin had a Peg Perego, but with her third baby she is switching to Chicco, because the recline helps babies sleep more comfortably.
Sleep Sheep :: Evie keeps this on her lap in the car seat whenever we drive. It is part of our car routine.
my Diaper Bag :: I spent an extraordinary amount of time analyzing and shopping for a diaper bag. I wanted something neutral, washable, with multiple straps (cross-body and over-the-shoulder), with pockets, and usable as a purse later. Moop made the perfect bag for me.
(manly) Diaper Bag :: Before I found my Moop bag, we purchased a backpack so Zach would carry some of Evie’s belongings too. I like how you can lay this bag flat, completely unzipped, and place everything in the bag easily. Later it can transition into a backpack for any of us.
Diaper + Wipes Case :: This little case included a changing pad, and we transfer it between bags whenever we need to. I cut off the hand strap. It makes life easy and will eventually just stay in the car for emergencies.
Pack N Play :: I had registered for a travel crib that cost 5 times more. That was crazy. We don’t travel that much, other than to our parents’ homes (where a crib is available). I’m thankful we ended up with this Graco crib instead.
I hope this series helps you mamas-to-be as you register for your little one (Congratulations!!). It is a gift to care for and love a little one. The “essentials” are really a loving marriage and a willingness to love and sacrifice for your new baby.
