So, I actually love wearing sweatpants. Some days (especially weekends and winter) “hard pants” just don’t cut it. You want to snuggle on your couch to watch a football game or take a walk to the neighborhood park or bake cookies in your kitchen. And in the middle of winter, jeans can make me feel cold. So, we need a strategy to elevate sweats.
For a loooong time, I would steal sweats and sweatshirts from my brothers or husband. They were huge on me, and I thought that was the ultimate in cozy….. Until my husband told me he hated how I looked (and how I ended up feeling – sloppy) when I wore them. So, a few years ago I started to update my sweats into a drawer of sporty pieces that actually fit me. I was going for looks like this:
YES to black leggings.
NO to flared yoga pants.
YES to sporty, tomboy, soccer wear.
NO to oversized anything.
YES to Adidas Sambas.
NO to running shoes.
YES to sweaters and chambray shirts.
NO to graphic t-shirts.
YES to basic grey, black, navy, white.
NO to bright, bold hues.
And here is what I ended up with. Now that I’m getting dressed more often, I try to stick to a sporty, cute sweats look on days at home. It is never sloppy, but has the same cozy factor as borrowing my brothers’ pieces.
