A few things of note I’ve stumbled on during this rainy, windy, hot month.
This article perfectly sums up my current stage of life. It felt like the author read my mind.
A charming movie from my childhood has been on repeat with my kids lately. We’ve all been humming the songs and the kids have several memorized.
I just updated this page with my favorites for fall. (Each line is an outfit idea.)
I pinned almost every photo and took note of Jean Godfrey-June’s entire beauty uniform. Back in high school, I subscribed to Lucky Magazine from the very first issue. At the time, Lucky had felt so fresh – this new combination of down to earth but still fashion forward, and Jean was the beauty editor. It was fun to bump into her again online and read her familiar voice. She has a refreshing and wise take on beauty. Her philosophy? “You’re prettier than you think.”
After the kids are tucked in, Zach and I have been watching Seinfeld together. I’ve never really watched it before, and it’s so funny. We’re just finishing Season 2, and I can remember my dad watching Seinfeld as a kid. He was probably a young parent about the same age as we are now, which is crazy to think about. It’s equally entertaining to see all the style and technology differences (pay phones! huge hair! pleated khakis!)
Did you see the series, A Night In, by a group of home bloggers? I loved the peek at a mostly masculine bedroom and this dark den. They both look super cozy and remind me why I love our home in the peace and quiet of night too. I was taking notes on the bedroom design, since that has always been the hardest room for me to figure out.
Speaking of which… after nine years on the same pillow-top mattress, we splurged on a Tuft & Needle mattress this month. It was mailed in this crazy small box and unfolded right on our box springs. It came with a 100 day trial period, but the jury is still out on whether or not it will be firm enough for us. Hoping for more and better sleep in the days ahead (someone tell my 8 month old, ha)!
Happy, Happy August, friends!
