Uniforms have become my preferred way of getting dressed. A uniform not only simplifies the decisions made while standing in front of my closet in the morning, but it also helps me feel like me. I’m not constantly reinventing my look like I used to do in high school and my early 20s. It helps me to be recognizable and my clothes never shine brighter than my face. Have you noticed how most characters in a children’s book wear the same general outfit throughout a story? Uniforms.
One of my go-to uniforms is very common – jeans + tee. It’s comfortable and classic American. And like all good “momiforms,” this one is totally machine washable and easy to care for. However, it can skew casual or even sloppy if you don’t watch the sizes and structure of the two pieces. Usually I wear a v-neck tee or a boxy tee with high rise skinny jeans, but for fall, I liked the longer sleeves and the tie detail of this black tee from Siizu. It hits at the perfect spot above my elbow and is ethically produced from high quality (and super soft) jersey cotton.
The formula of jeans and a tee is simple, and I only added a black belt and my favorite loafers to finish it off. With the tie detail on the sleeves, the outfit is feminine and French, but the shoes and belt ground the outfit with a hit of tomboy.
