As much as I like the idea of a fancy holiday get-together, my reality is all our parties end up being fairly casual. We spend Thanksgiving hanging around a table catching up with our families long after the feasting is over. The kids check in with us occasionally between playing with cousins, aunts, and uncles. It’s cozy and warm.
Unfortunately, we don’t get to see our extended families as much as we’d like. While I want to be comfortable all day, like most of you, I also want to look nice and maybe one step up from the everyday. So, here’s a simple outfit – three pieces total – that I’m planning to wear, along with some styling notes, and a long-awaited denim review.
When this sweater popped up on Grana’s website, I almost immediately clicked to purchase it with some referral credits I had earned. I rarely buy things that fast anymore, but the puffed sleeves, patterned ribbing, and winter ivory shade won me over. Plus, it’s cashmere. It’s as good in person as I’d hoped – super soft and lovely. The half-tuck shows my waist when I pair it with looser jeans, although with skinnies you could leave it untucked for volume on top.
NOTE: I’ve shopped from Grana for over a year now, but it may be a new brand to many of you. Here’s what I’ll say. Their shipping is super speedy and free over $75. Their returns are free and easy with a mailing label included in the box, but sometimes slow to be processed. Over the past few months, I think their website photo styling has skewed weird or awkward, but I still like how the clothes look on me (and my husband) once we get them. Check their recommendations on fit + sizing. Sometimes their pants run a little small, but most other things, like this sweater, are true to size. I’ve been wearing these Everlane jeans nonstop since they arrived. At first I thought they were a bit too long on me (I’m 5’4″), but after a full day of wearing them, I realized they are just right. I love the fit, with a slightly higher waist that stays put, unlike any other boyfriend jeans I’ve owned. They don’t stretch out after wear, and the denim is seriously good.
If you’ve never tried boyfriend jeans before, I’m a fan because they can easily be dressed down with a solid sweatshirt or dressed up like a French girl with a silk shirt. The trick is they make any outfit look like you aren’t trying too hard. Everlane’s pair works because it fits at the waist and doesn’t look sloppy like stretchy denim pairs I’ve owned in the past.
That price tag does not mean lower quality. Two thumbs way up.
Everlane Modern Boyfriend Jean, wearing a 26.
That puffed sleeve. Reminds me of Anne of Green Gables, every time.
