It’s been five years since my first gift guide when I was a girl shopping for seven men every Christmas – my husband, father, father-in-law, 2 brothers, and 2 brothers-in-law. So, I decided to ask all these guys what their favorite gifts were and compiled them into my first gift guide. And each year since, I’ve combined my tomboy aesthetic with their input of best gifts to curate another guide. This year is no exception.
I’m always searching for that combination of function + style to ensure the gift you spent hard-earned dollars on won’t go unused or be returned. This time around, I’ve curated the categories of tried + true gifts that men will actually use and then included several options to help you find exactly what your guy will love. Here we go!
Gifts for Him
1 // CAMPING GEAR
As you’ve heard our camping saga this year, camping gear is high on my husband’s list and it’s always included on my brothers’ lists too. I think once you get inducted into this outdoorsy group, there’s always some sort of gear that you can add to your pile. Plus, it’s investing in vacations too.
2 // WINTER GEAR
It’s the time of year to really gear up for cold weather. The tags will get ripped off these gifts for immediate use following Christmas.
3 // SKINCARE
I like to buy things that get used up in the year. Zach is notorious for forgetting to take care of his skin in the winter, so replenishing a stash of hand cream or upgrading to a 5 blade German razor is a smart move.
4 // BARWARE
5 // CASHMERE SWEATER
Last year, I gave my parents cashmere sweaters and this fall, I finally convinced Zach to try one. They are insanely soft, but not bulky. It’s an easy gift to grab for everyone on your list, and they’ll all be happy about it.
6 // POPCORN POPPER
This has been on pretty much every gift guide I’ve written for the past five years. We LOVE popping popcorn. My husband mans the popcorn machine, simply add some oil and popcorn and you’re good to go (although I like a bit of melted butter too). It makes for delicious date-nights-in with Netflix.
7 // FLANNEL SHIRT
Like many men, my husband has been a fan of flannel shirts for years. It’s always nice to add another one into the mix since they get tons of use all winter long.
8 // SHOES
Honestly, my husband owns more shoes than I do, and he would always be up for adding another pair. According to him, the trick is to own just the right number to rotate them so they all last a good spell.
9 // BOOK
Books are often my dad’s preferred gift, and my brother-in-law has been methodically reading through the classics over the past few years. Here are a few suggestions for the bibliophile in your family.
Sherlock Holmes, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
A Long Way Gone, by Ishmael Beah
A Man Called Ove, by Fredrik Bachman
Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage, by Alfred Lansing
Thanks for reading, sharing, and shopping from the gift guides. In case you missed it, gifts for kids is ready for you too. More to come!
