I started blogging in 2009. I was a newlywed who discovered blogs right after moving to a new city, feeling lonely and a little lost. Connecting with other women who were sharing their stories and daily lives instantly helped fill a friendship void from leaving my hometown. Things were different then – blogs were more personal, social media was almost nonexistent, and of course, everything was a lot less sponsored and “perfect.”
Even with all the changes in the last 9 years (!) I still love reading blogs. Back in the day, if you had a blog, on the sidebar you would include the blogs you read. It was such a fun way to go down a rabbit hole and find new people to follow and be inspired by. There are far fewer blogs to follow these days, but I’d love to share the ones I’m loyal to….
Finding Adventure. I have two younger brothers, and Kaytea is married to my brother, Jordan. She is so creative, and while our personalities are almost exact opposites I learn so much from her. I love reading about the adventures they create as a family and the ways she crafts a beautiful home. Kaytea also takes gorgeous, light-filled photos and is starting a series about how to use your DSLR camera.
A Lovely Fare. Tianna is married to my youngest brother, Ben, and we are so lucky that they are living near us for a couple years. When I read her posts, I’m always struck by her wisdom and thoughtfulness about life and marriage. I love that she gives little peeks into her everyday, newlywed life.
Hither and Thither. I’ve been reading Ashley’s blog for years now. I’ve taken her advice on everything from baby products to choosing a hotel in Rome. She’s smart, thoughtful and stylish. I love living vicariously through her family’s extensive travels around the world.
Un-Fancy. Caroline hasn’t been writing for the past couple months, but her blog spells out minimal closets from A to Z. Her styling is fun to watch and still approachable. She also loves yoga, music, home design, and she writes in a refreshing, joy-filled way.
The Faux Martha. Melissa’s blog is absolutely a fave. She is a home cook and baker, and writes a lot of food posts. But my favorite posts are about the way she lives minimally and designs her home, The Faux House.
Natalie Borton Blog. While Natalie is more present on Instagram, I really love her style posts. She’s a jewelry designer and always coming up with great outfits. The savvy way she goes about working on the internet is also fascinating to me, and I like watching as she grows her business.
Seasons + Salt. If you’re looking to discover new slow fashion brands, Andrea’s blog is a go-to. She shares her everyday style and collaborates with a lot of responsible makers. Her style is a little different than mine, but I like seeing how she pairs pieces together and develops her own personal style.
A Cup of Jo. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the blog I’ve been reading the longest. At this point, I kind of just assume every woman is reading Joanna’s blog. It far exceeds the place magazines once held in my life, and I occasionally forward posts to Zach so we can talk about them. Her honest, vulnerable, smart way of writing has resonated with me, and if I refer to something I read there, I can’t help but call her a friend.
So, that’s my line-up of favorite blogs. I am still grateful for the inspiration, wisdom and beauty that bloggers are willing to share with the world. They’re my go-to resource for books to read, traveling tips, mom advice, and style inspiration. I’d love to hear your favorites too!
