Today, let’s get down to basics with five outfits featuring the same pair of jeans and sneakers. These are perfect combinations for spring days. By simply switching out the tops, you can quickly get dressed each morning. Now that I’ve shared an overview of my Spring Capsule, this styling session shows how I use individual pieces to create outfits for everyday life.
The beauty of a cohesive capsule is the ease of mixing and matching. For example you could take all of these outfits and swap the denim jeans for white jeans and each outfit would look new. Or if you have a more professional dress code during the week, try a pair of wide leg crop pants with a classic neutral flat. When the weather gets warmer, I shift from jeans to a pair of high rise denim shorts. This way, you don’t have to waste as much energy getting dressed, but can quickly throw on outfits you feel comfortable and confident in!
Let’s get started….
In each outfit I’m wearing the Everlane Authentic Stretch Denim in mid blue. In terms of sizing, I vary between a 26 and 27 in denim, and for this pair I’m wearing a 26 ankle. I think you can go either way with sizing depending on how “skinny” you like your jeans. This line of denim really is my favorite for the unique combination of stretch with the look and thickness of rigid denim. They’re a true closet staple. (If you’ve never shopped at Everlane before, you can use my referral code for free shipping!)
White sneakers have been another piece I’m wearing constantly. This pair by Madewell are basic and plain. They have a cushioned insole and wipe clean easily (a perk of leather over cotton). I wear them with cotton no-show socks. If you’re shopping I wrote a roundup of white sneakers at different price points here.

Voluminous blouses are trendy this season, and I prefer pairing them with high rise skinny jeans to create a flattering silhouette. Practically speaking, a loose flowy top also feels cool when it’s warm and sunny out.

Head to toe denim can feel intimidating, but by mixing two different washes this doesn’t look like as overwhelming. I can wear this anywhere with my kids and slip the jacket off in the afternoon when it gets warmer. I’m planning to wear this same outfit with white shorts in the summertime.

Jeans and a tee is a classic combination, and this boxy long sleeve tee is perfection. It washes so nicely and doesn’t cling the way some do. I own it in a few colors because it’s just lovely to wear. I always give it a little front tuck.

It’s amazing how one accent color can switch a wardrobe of basics to a new season so quickly. For me, pale pink is the touch that freshens up all my navy and grey and army green basics. I think I only have a few actual pink pieces, but it’s just enough to feel new and different.

Have I already told you how much I love this sweater? It’s been such a good purchase because it feels almost like a vintage piece with the beautiful stitching around the neck and sleeves. In Indiana, the weather can give you whiplash – 80 degrees and sunny one day and 30 degrees a few days later. This is perfect for those colder days when you don’t want to drag out a wool sweater
