We just returned from a week at Lake Keowee in South Carolina with my family, and it was the perfect finale to our summer break. My parents built this home when Evie was one, so it’s pretty incredible to see how much more the kids can do with each passing summer. This year, Evie and Tommy learned to surf behind the boat (!!!) and they both tried tubing. All three of our kids are little fish, and we basically spend our days hopping from the lake to the pool so they can do hundreds of cannonballs.
It’s a very low-key vacation, and we all live in our swim suits, workout clothes or pajamas all week. It’s comfy cozy and I love that. Here are three outfits I wore (on repeat) at the lake!
Swim suits and coverups took up a good percentage of my bag, since we spend so much time out on the water. A robe jacket is a versatile choice since it can also be worn over a tank top and shorts in the evenings. (This one is cute too!) I love how the green color of these two pieces coordinates, but I had never paired them together before this trip. Also, a bunch of you asked about my swim suit, which is sold out, but I’ve linked a super similar option from J.Crew, one of my all-time favorite swim brands.
As you can see, these tubular sandals were in non-stop use on this trip. They’re currently 40% off and go with everything.
It definitely feels like vacation when Zach and I can exercise every day! We’re trying to carry that momentum into our everyday at home because it’s so easy for both of us to push it to the back burner. We ran the hills around the lake and I got to take a couple yoga classes, which was a rare treat. I’m feeling inspired to keep it up!
Also, I wrote a review about Outdoor Voices products I purchased (not gifted) and wanted to give you an update after a few more months of use – two thumbs way up! I know in this world of influencers it can be hard to know if someone really likes something or if it is just shared for promotion. Anyways, these are winners, and I always want to be a voice you can trust. OV pieces wash well, they feel great during workouts and I bought a few more items in their summer sale, including this layering fleece half-zip (it’s SO good and only $43! TTS) and their classic 7/8 springs leggings (size up).
This striped beach poncho was ideal for windy rides on the boat. The comfy terry interior is a bit like a sweatshirt, super comfy over a wet suit. I also like it worn with cut-off shorts. For something lighter on hot days, I prefer this cover-up (I wear a small).
My baseball hat and sunglasses not only offered protection from the South Carolina sun but also hid dirty hair. They made it easy to look put together on vacation. Often I would throw my hair in a messy braid, which kept it out of my face on the boat.
PS: My super-soft pajamas also got lots of use cozying up with coffee every morning. Can’t wait until our next trip!
